- Baka-Updates
Iron Knight started in issue 1 of the Weekly Shonen Jump 2014 edition by Tomohiro Yagi.
During the 2012 Golden Future Cup, Yagi entered his oneshot Goblin Night, which was a success with many readers and earned 1st Honorable Mention in the competition.
Many expected it to be among the first to be serialised, however it was not to much disappointment. Now, over a year later it has returned to Jump as "Iron Knight".
The plot remained the same as in the oneshot with very subtle differences to the character design.
The first chapter titled "RISE" is the most fast paced, dynamic and truly impressive piece of manga I have seen among the recent new series. In many ways the story is similar to that of Hachi by Yoshiyuki Nishi. But there is a very clear difference between the two series. In my opinion Hachi has more potential that has yet to be utilised whereas Iron Knight has reached its potential and is much more interesting than its rival.
Again, whether a series lives on or is cancelled will depend on the readers in Japan.
The first chapter can be read here
