Maou-jou de Oyasumi

The human princess kednapped by the Demon King. She has a lot of free time as a prisoner, so she searches every day for a way to get a good night's rest in the Demon King Castle

This new fantasy comedy began in issue 24 by Kagiji Kumanomata. Its a great series that would in my opinion been better as a 4-koma manga series. Each chapter is repetitive, yet individually fun to read.

Komi-san wa、Komyushou Desu。

Komi-san is the beautiful and admirable girl that no-one can take their eyes off her. Almost the whole school sees her as the cold beauty out of their league, but Tadano Shigeo knows the truth: she's just really bad at communicating with others.
Komi-san, who wishes to fix this bad habit of hers, tries to improve it with the help of Tadano-kun.

Beginning in issue 25, Tomohito Oda's new series shows the school life of Komi Shouko and Tadano Shigeo. Komi Shouko has a dire case of 'Communication Apprehension', so Tadano tries his best to help her attaining her dream of making more friends.

Oni wo Tadorite Ikuseisou

This new series began in issue 26 by Shinji Tonaka. The story follows Aki as he hunts demons in the Meiji era.

Weekly Shonen Sunday New Series - Part 1

Souboutei Kowasubeshi

This new horror fantasy series by Kazuhiro Fujita began in issue 17. Fujita is mostly noted for his multi award winning 1990 series, Ushio to Tora. 

Fujita is a very talented manga author and at present the series has been well received in Japan. Despite the very rough artwork, Fujita has created a very absorbing story.

Aozakura - Bouei Daigakkou Monogatari

Hikaru Nikaidou commenced this slice of life/drama series in double issue 22/23 of the magazine. Nikaidou's last work was the sports series Heavens Runner Akira. The story follows Kondo Ismai, who enrols in the Naional Defense Academy

New Series Tenohira no Netsu o by Eiichi Kitano

Tenohira no Netsu o  began in Weekly Shonen Magazine #10 by Eiichi Kitano.

Your everyday soon-to-be junior high school student, Kinoshita Shinya, is only on a family visit when he gets lost.
Your everyday karate kid, Yanagiya Takumi, is only going on a run when he runs into Shinya.

This series is a delight to see. Although it revolves around Karate there is a good amount of comedy and light spirit that makes Tenohira no Netsu o a fun read.

Weekly Shonen Jump New Series

Boruto started in issue 23 of WSJ and tells the adventures of Naruto's sons Boruto. This monthly series is written by Ukyo Kodachi and artwork by Mikio Ikemoto. The pair are supervised by the original creator Masashi Kishimoto.

As this is a monthly series, it offers the team time to create fantastic chapters each month for every fan of Naruto to enjoy. Packed with nostalgia and familiar faces, this is a great way to keep the spirit of Naruto alive while the anime continues its marathon to reach the end line.
Of course as Kishimoto is not doing the series himself, this will leave the series open to much criticism from readers.

Takuan and Batsu's Daily Demon Diary by Kentaro Itani

Takuro Tsukumo (a.k.a. Takuan) is a laid back high school boy who loves everyday life.

One day after meeting Batsu, the only daughter of King Enma, Takuan becomes a minion under her to help capture the demons of hell together.

Takuan and Batsu's Daily Demon Diary began in issue 24 of WSJ by newcomer Kentaro Itani. 

After reading the first chapter I have mixed feelings about the series. There are comical elements but the series also has a darker tone uncommon in WSJ.

Its recent rankings show that there is some sort of uncertainty about this series among readers with it being ranked 10 and 11.

Apologies for my absence

During the period of March to August, I have and will continue to be extremely busy with real life things like work. 

I would like to take this chance to apologies to you all for not keeping this blog regularly updated as I had done in the past. From now until mid September I will try and do the ranks and post when I can so they will posted on here at irregular intervals.

Shonen Anime - Spring 2016

Spring is finally here and although there is not too much on offer, the series starting this Spring will surely entertain everyone.

Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) - 3rd April

Many fans and I have been waiting for this series to get animated since reading the first chapter in 2014. When Bones studio was announced to animate the series, fans were overjoyed.  

Izuku Midoriya is a regular middle school student in a world where people with superpowers known as "Quirks" are the norm. However, he dreams of one day becoming a Hero, despite being bullied by his classmates for not having a Quirk. After being the only one to try and save his childhood bully, Katsuki, from a Villain, All Might, the world's greatest Hero, bestows upon him his own quirk, "One For All". The story follows Izuku's entrance into U.A. High School, a school that cultivates the next generation of Heroes.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Diamond wa Kudakenai - 2nd April

Part 4 focuses on Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar, with Jotaro Kujo and Joseph Joestar along in a supporting role.

Kyoukai no Rinne 2 - 9th April

Season 2 of this supernatural comedy series.
